Practice Manager

Karen joined Pet Vet in August of 2011 as a technician & has been the Practice Manager since 2012.  She started her veterinary career in 1984 as a kennel attendant while still in high school.  She has her BS in Biology & earned her Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license in 2004.  Karen worked with Dr. Deb years ago when they were both employed at Hartland Veterinary Clinic in Woodstock.  “I love the variety that is seen in veterinary medicine.  There is always something new to see & learn.”   In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her 2 teenage daughters & her 2 cats, Bob & Roo.

Katie has been with Pet Vet since November 2005. She received her Associates Degree in Business Management from McHenry County College in 2009. She finds her job challenging and loves every part of it. She enjoys spending her free time with her friends, family and 2 Dobermans, Diesel and Shelby.

Gail started at Pet Vet in Sept 2004.  She has 1 cat, Missy Kitty and 1 dog Riley.  She says the best part of her job is, “talking with the clients about their pets and getting to see all the puppies and kittens that come in.”  She has 6 grandchildren and enjoys spending time with the family.

Jessica has been working in the veterinary field since 2002. She has been working at Pet Vet since October 2011. “I really enjoy the feeling I get from helping families with their furry four legged loves ones”. She has 2 dogs, “Apple” a Toy Poodle and “Cooper” a Dachshund/Terrier mix.

Hollis Morrissey

Hollis joined Pet Vet in July 2015. “I get great pleasure seeing all the four legged friends. It’s very satisfying knowing we are there for our clients, whether for a nail trim or vaccine updates. When I am not here, I enjoy spending time with my Golden Retriever, “Boomer” and my Australian Shepherd “Willow”.

Rebecca has been working in the Animal Sciences since 2007. She started as a receptionist at an animal hospital close to home. She went to get her technician certification at Fox College Vet Tech Institute and graduated in 2010. She enjoys all aspects of the career; especially emergency and critical care cases. She currently has 2 dogs at home. Duchess is a 9 year old German Shepherd mix (pictured) she adopted from her school, and Kano is a 1.5 year old German Shepherd she acquired as a puppy. For fun she loves to spend time with her husband and young son and enjoys the warmer weather months. She has been a part of the Pet Vet team since 2012 and loves the family friendly environment she gets to be a part of.

“As a graduate of Bel-Rea Institute, I have been studying and practicing veterinary technology since 2002. My strengths as a technician are nursing care and client education.  Over the years I have rescued/adopted 3 Chihuahuas and 4 kitties. My latest adventure is a Chestnut Marab horse named Gabe.  I am so fortunate to have found, what I feel is my second home here with Dr. Deb and the amazing staff at Pet Vet.”

Veterinary Assistant

Michelle is Pet Vet’s Head Veterinary Assistant. She started at Pet Vet in January 1999 when Dr. Deb only did house calls before the clinic opened in June of 1999. She says the best aspect of her job is, “Being able to work with all sorts of animals, helping them and helping their owners improve their quality of life. I like seeing the joy animals can bring to their owners”. Some of the most unique experiences she can remember while working with Dr. Deb are: Tuberculosis testing a herd of Elk, working on a reindeer’s eye infection and doing a dystocia on a camel (baby camel was stuck while mom was in labor). Michelle is responsible for training new veterinary assistants, participating in management meetings and communicating with the teams of doctors and veterinary assistants. She previously worked on a horse/cattle farm in Woodstock, and prior to that worked on a large horse farm in Delavan, WI. She has 1 pet of her own, Bear a Black Lab Mix. In her free time she enjoys camping and fishing. When she is not working she really enjoys spending time with  her children: Paige, Jacob, Jim, and Stephanie.

Marie started at Pet Vet in August 2004. She feels the best part of her job is “helping the patients and helping teach the families how to best care for their pets.”

Sandi has been working in the veterinary field for over 10 years. She started with Pet Vet in October of 2006. She says “helping injured and sick animals is the best part of my job.” She has 2 dogs and 1 cat of her own.

Nikki Gerrish

Nikki has been working in the veterinary field since 2012. She started as a receptionist and worked very hard to gain a position as a Veterinary Technician. She is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster Vet Tech program. She lives with her longtime boyfriend Brent and her two rescue animals: “Rebel” a Boxer, Red Heller mix and “Fluff” a 3-legged Persian. She also has a turtle named “Pistachio” and four Bluegills named “Big Blue” , “Dot”, “Rocky” and “Joker.” She enjoys being outdoors and fishing. She tries to be crafty by crocheting, sewing and other do-it-yourself projects. She enjoys client education and helping owners provide the best long and happy lives for their furry and non-furry friends and family.

Ramona is studying to become a licensed veterinary technician through Purdue University. Karen Larsen is her mentor in the program and Ramona is grateful to everyone at Pet Vet for the opportunity to gain experience as a technician assistant on Saturday mornings. Ramona has been working in human medicine since 1993, mainly in research & development for new drugs. She enjoys spending time with her husband & 2 dogs, Charlie & Pete.
